In detail with animations: Basics and starting position
Step by step

Starting position
Insert the FaceFormer, raise your head upright and stretch your neck.

Turn and breathe in
Press the lip wedge, turn your head to the right for 6 seconds and breathe in during this time in one breath for 6 seconds.

Until you feel the stretch
Turn far enough that you feel the neck muscles. Keep your head balance.

Pause with a swallow
Hold your breath for 5 seconds, bite down briefly and swallow once. Your head stays in position.

Back and breathe out
Turn your head back to the centre for 6 seconds, relax your lips and breathe out for 6 seconds as you do so.

Breathing pause
Start with 5 seconds and increase the pause in small steps up to 40 seconds, as in the breathing exercise.

Other side
Repeat the whole sequence to the left side.
Your training plan
3× a day
small steps
This exercise is for advanced users. Only start once the basic exercises are secure, ideally in consultation with a practice.
Points to note
- Only start once the breathing exercise and the head balance rotation each work reliably on their own.
- Breathing and turning happen at the same time and for the same length, 6 seconds each.
- Only turn as far as a comfortable stretch.
- Breathe exclusively through your nose.
If it is still difficult
Breathing and turning at the same time does not work
Practise module 7 and module 8 separately for a while longer. Combining them is easier once both sequences run by themselves.
I feel dizzy
Turn more slowly, shorten the breath-hold and stop if necessary. If the feeling persists, talk to your practice.

App StoreGoogle PlayFaceFormer training aims to readjust the basic functions of breathing, swallowing and head balance physiologically, with mouth closure and the tongue reference position, thereby creating the conditions for complaints to improve. It does not replace a medical assessment. You can also train on your own with the app and these pages. If you are not making progress, if complaints need to be investigated or if you would like support, you will find practices in the practitioner directory. If you feel pain, stop the training.
