Wrinkles in the upper lip during training. What am I doing wrong?

I was originally enthusiastic about the effects of FaceFormer, but now I notice that I get 2 wrinkles on my left upper lip, which form when the lips are pressed together during training and are deeply notched.

Am I doing something wrong?

With very few users this phenomenon can actually occur. We advise you to do the following: During the exercises try to pull the tensed lips wide (wide grin). Only perform the exercises by pulling downwards.

Why is it recommended to replace the FaceFormer after six months?

It is recommended to replace the FaceFormer after 6 months. What is the reason for this?

As with everything else, the material is subject to a certain amount of wear. Especially during the pulling exercises high forces are generated which load the material of the FaceFormer. If the forces are added together, the pulling exercises on 180 days alone have an effect of approx. 1800 kg on the FaceFormer, which can also fatigue the high-quality siloprene from which the FaceFormer is made in the long term.

The second reason is the hygiene aspect, i.e. the same reason why you regularly exchange toothbrushes. This does not have to be as frequent as with a toothbrush, 6 months of regular use, including hours of nightly use, are however an argument for renewal.

How long is daily training?

How long should the user train daily with the FaceFormer?

The patient repeats the exercises 3 times a day.  It is sufficient to repeat the basic exercise and a pulling exercise 20 times each. In doing so, a tension state of the muscles is maintained for 6 seconds and then relaxed for 6 seconds (isometric training). Accordingly, 40 sequences of 6 seconds each are performed. The amount of time per exercise is 240 seconds, that is 4-5 minutes.

It is desirable to add two additional pulling exercises each with the same time expenditure. Intensive daily training should be carried out over three months. First benefits usually occur after 3-4 weeks.

Due to the Training during this time the nasal breathing improves. If the patient perceives this advancement, the FaceFormer is also used at night. In this way, the mouth is closed and a habitual nasal breathing is accustomed. Training and nightly use are maintained over six months, so that everything is done right in sleep.
